  • Enter full email address for “Log-on username”.

Note: You would see IMAP server name as- “imap-mail.outlook.com”. Servers with this name are not reliable anymore thus changing it to “outlook.office365.com” is a much more reliable option and gives better results in many cases. Also changing the server name would not affect the messages present in the mailbox.

  • Set the Outgoing mail server address as “smtp.live.com” & change its port to “587”.
  • Select “Requires a secure connection (SSL)” and “Requires authentication”.
  • Click Next & Finish.

The program will try to connect & download account folders along with their contents. Once it is done, select the properties by right click on the account name.

  • Go to the IMAP tab, select “Check for new messages in all folders” & “Store special folders on IMAP server”.
  • Now enter the following paths carefully.
  • Sent Items path: Sent.
  • Drafts path: Drafts.
  • Deleted Items path: Deleted.
  • Junk path: Junk.

  • Now open “Show/Hide IMAP folders” & click “Reset List” button to refresh the folder list from the server.

3. Remove the Old Account

Once you have successfully shifted all your messages from old account to the new one, you can remove the old account. This will permanently delete all the messages & folders present in the old account. The old account will be removed from the folder pane and this step is irreversible. So the user should be sure before doing it.
