How to Fix Outlook won’t Opening on Windows 10 – Get Solutions

Microsoft Outlook is one of the most popular and used email client on Windows 10 worldwide. But many users reported an error “Outlook won’t open on Windows 10”.  This is a major problem of users who use Outlook on a daily basis.

Solution 1: Start Outlook Email Client in Safe Mode & Disable add-ins

Sometimes, add-ins are creating problems and responsible for Outlook not opening in Windows 10 issues. In this solution we will open Outlook in safe mode & disable add-ins. After that one by one we will enable add-ins until we do not find the add-in which is creating a problem.

1.1: Press Windows key + R

1.2: Enter outlook / safe press enter.

1.3: Choose profile windows appear on your screen, click on OK.

Now, we will disable Add-ins –

1.4: Select file from the menu bar, then Option. Select Add-ins.

1.5: In View and Manage Office Add-ins, make sure COM Add-ins is selected. Select Go.

1.6: Write-down all the enable Add-ins before disabling them.

1.7: Now, clear all the selected check-box in the COM Add-ins list. Then select Remove >> Exit.

You can see all Add-ins are disabled. Now, we have to enable Add-ins one by one until we find the Add-ins which is responsible for this error.

1.8: Open Outlook Safe Mode, then Choose File >> Options >> Add-ins, enable Add-in from the list.

1.9: Restart Outlook.

According to some users, their problem was resolved by disabling Microsoft CRM  Add-in.

Solution 2: Create a Now Profile

If your profile gets corrupted, you will receive this error. So we will re-create the profile to resolve this issue.

2.1: Open Control Panel, select Mail, then click on Show Profiles and choose Add.

2.2: Enter a profile name, then enter your name, email ID, password, and click on Next. You can also set-up a profile manually.

2.3: Click Finish and now, new profile added in the general tab. select “Prompt for a profile to be used” click on OK.

2.4: Start Outlook, and select profile which is newly created.

If Outlook works properly with a new profile, then you can switch back to the original profile. You can see error Outlook not launching in Windows 10 resolve successfully.

Solution 3: Repair Corrupted Data File

As we know all emails, contacts, calendars, tasks, and other items are stored in the PST file. If your PST file got corrupted it will prevent Outlook from opening.

 So, this is one of the reasons for Outlook 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007, 2003 not opening in Windows 10. To resolve this issue we have to repair the corrupted PST file. Microsoft provides the ScanPST.exe option to repair files.

Follow the given Steps –

3.1: Run ScanPST.exe.

3.2: Click on the Browse button to add a corrupted PST file.

3.3: Click on the Start button to scan the PST file, If any error found click on the Repair button to fix the header corruption of PST.

Remember, ScanPST.exe tool will fix only minor level corruption (header level corruption). If the PST file highly corrupted then you have to use an automated recovery tool.

Solution 4: Don’t Run Outlook in Compatibility Mode

Compatibility mode is originally designed to run old software on Windows 10. But, we do not need to run Outlook in compatibility mode because Outlook can easily run in Windows 10 machine (it is fully optimized for Windows 10). Sometimes Outlook not opening in Windows 10 due to this. So, you have to make sure Compatibility Mode turns off for Outlook.

4.1 – Right-click on Outlook and select properties from the menu. Go to the Compatibility tab.

4.2 – Checked or make sure Run this Program in Compatibility mode option is turned off.

Solution 5: Use Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant Tool

Download & use Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant tool. The tool is designed to diagnose and fix many issues. It will help you fix common problems like this Outlook not working in Windows 10 problem.

Solution 6: Run sfc /scannow Command

The sfc /scannow command will scan all protected systems files, and if it is found a corrupted file, then it will replace that file with a cached copy.

 6.1: Open Command Prompt (cmd) as admin.

6.2: Enter command sfc /scannow and Enter. Now, the scan process starts (don’t interrupt scan process).

6:3: After completing the scan process, check Outlook problem is resolve or not.
